Family portrait photography at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago
As a Chicago wedding and portrait photographer, I do not select the time of day in which I will photograph my subjects. For this reason it is most important to know and understand how to work in any light, at any time, on any day.
It was a few years in the past when I last photographed the Howard family and I was very excited to do it again when they contacted me and requested that I do so again. We met at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago a little before noon. In the past when I would photograph around the noon hour, I would run from the light. I would always search for the shade. This is no longer the case. I am a photographer that is obsessed with photography gear, not light. It is the light and my subjects gestures that turn an ordinary photograph into an extraordinary one.
We spent a great time together for a little over an hour. I have to admit that the entire family made my job an easy one. Cliff Mautner, one of the most appreciated wedding photographers in the world, always says "We're only as good as our clients." I absolutely agree with that.
