The Annual Fundraiser Doxie Palooza
On April 17, 2016, the Doxie Palooza held its second annual fundraiser event in Yorkville at Country Comfort Boarding & Grooming. This is a fairly new fundraising event and the organizers want to continue it every year. All of the proceeds are donated to the Dachshund Rescue of North America (DRNA). DRNA is an organization run purely on donations and its mission is to ensure rescuing, rehabilitating, and adopting out homeless and displaced Dachsahunds. Debby Bianci, a DRNA volunteer said, "Over our history, we have placed well over 900 dogs and are we are by far the largest Dachshund rescue organization in the country.”
We were gifted with beautiful weather on this day and the organizers were so pleased and grateful for the numerous participants, phenomenal support, and turnout during the event. Over the course of four hours, all of the animals present joined in a few competitions. They held a costume contest, a peanut butter challenge and probably the most anticipated of all, the doxie races. It was great to see so many Dachshund lovers join together with such great support for DRNA to continue its mission.
When I was asked if I would like to photograph this event, I didn't even give it a second thought. For me, it was a supreme pleasure to be a part of this day and witness all of the people gathered together because of the love they have for the Dachshund and that do all they can to help DRNA in their mission. It’s so rewarding to see people who are mostly perfect strangers join together for a good cause. I would like to give a special thanks to Lois Armstrong and Nancy Hyrczyk for offering me this opportunity to photograph this occasion and I can't wait for the next one.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures of Noelle. Can't wait to see the rest.
